Lonely Planet is seeking a full-time Sr. Visual Designer who will work as part of a cross-functional creative team, supporting brand, marketing, social media, PR, and partnership teams. This is a highly-collaborative, creative and close-knit group who thrive off of giving and receiving feedback, solving complex problems, and developing engaging user experiences, all while meeting the needs of the business.

You'll play an instrumental role in developing core consumer-facing creative for branded experiences across a broad range of channels, including digital, print, and video. This role calls for a passionate and versatile creative who is highly skilled in branding, design thinking, user-centered design processes, and who is comfortable producing assets for a wide range of uses. The right candidate for this role will be highly-organized and collaborative; with a passion for solving problems cross-functionally and who excels in collaborating with cross-disciplinary stakeholders and a team of designers, writers, engineers, product managers and researchers.

What You'll Do:

  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop and execute creative for editorial, marketing, social, PR, brand, and product needs
  • Collaborate with our internal stakeholders to design logos, campaigns, branded assets, social media templates, as well as motion graphics components for video and print collateral for use at events
  • Support the business development and partnerships teams with presentation templates, email assets and promotional materials
  • Help prepare, maintain, and evolve brand guidelines
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand project goals and produce a variety of concepts that deliver on those goals
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to tackle design challenges, identify user pain-points and opportunities to drive end goals
  • Present and share work with cross-functional teams in a way that clearly articulates your design intentions
  • Manage work tasks using Asana, Slack, Google Docs and Jira
  • Juggle a mix of large and small projects, often with overlapping priority and urgency
  • Manage multiple files at once inside a collaborative file structure, with accuracy and a good attitude
  • Understand business goals and solve complex problems while working with cross-functional teams teams to plan and build iterative solutions
  • Continually adopt new tools and practices as your work evolves
  • Collaborate with junior members of the team to help elevate their work and grow their skill sets

What We're Looking For:

  • Portfolio and/or case studies of work showcasing brand design and creative strategy
  • 5+ years of experience in leading conceptualization and design of large-scale and small-scale projects and campaigns
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Proficiency with industry-leading design tools (Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Experience producing assets for use in digital as well as print
  • Bonus points for experience creating motion graphics and SVG animations
  • Flexibility and adaptability with high attention to detail in a fast-changing environment
  • A team player with a positive outlook and a mentoring mindset
  • Positive attitude and a sense of humor


  • Cash Compensation Range: $85,000-$150,000*
    *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
